JOB TITLE: Dir, Traffic
DEPARTMENT: Distribution
SUPERVISOR’S JOB TITLE: VP, Sr Trans/Distribution

JOB SCOPE/ SUMMARY:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Review department and regional distribution center performance in meeting or exceeding Company and customer expectations and established Key Performance Indicators.
  2. Identify and analyze viable regional freight programs, negotiate with carriers, and select the most efficient and economical carriers and programs to meet corporate transportation needs.
  3. Approve all proposed carrier changes given a review of specific rate information, Department of Transportation driver certification records, and insurance documentation and inform management of any changes that may affect Company policy and profits.
  4.  Create periodic traffic summary reports reflecting carrier performance, issues, and solutions and conduct ongoing freight studies for existing regions of distribution and regions designated for future expansion.
  5. Establish new store standing appointment times in conjunction with Regional Distribution Center Managers and consult with Regional Distribution Center Managers and Distribution Logistics Administrators to establish cut off times for all loads.
  6. Arrange and/or verify the shipment of all customer freight, raw materials pick-ups, sales aides’ materials, and miscellaneous departmental freight between customers, vendors, and various Company locations.
  7.  Prepare freight and warehousing budgets for operations and report on the performance of actual expenses to the budget and progress of current projects.
  8.  Ensure the condition and operation of all vehicle equipment complies with corporate safety policies and procedures, and applicable government safety rules and regulations.
  9.  Maintain computer database (SAP), including updating carrier information and auditing the accuracy of information pertaining to Company warehouses and non-routable shipments.
  10.  Oversee all freight bill activity including verifying all freight bills for accuracy, ensure bills are processed in a timely manner, and resolve all payment or billing discrepancies with the appropriate carrier.
  11.  Oversee Make & Ship and inter company finished goods movement.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/TRAINING Educational attainment equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field Broad and progressively responsible experience in fleet operations, including supervisory experience

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Broad knowledge of fleet operations and freight programs
Broad knowledge of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), local truck ordinances, Federal transportation laws, and related safety regulations Knowledge of the principles and techniques of employee supervision
Knowledge of budgeting methods and practices
Ability to independently plan, organize, and schedule carrier selection, driver assignments, and special equip requirements
Ability to communicate effectively with staff, management, vendors, and Company personnel
Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously and exercise judgment in making quick decisions
Ability to select, train, supervise, and evaluate the work of the fleet operations support staff
Ability to use a computer to access, enter, review, and update computerized records and reports

Account Manager - Insurance Customer Service Representative

Avalon Risk Management, an international trade-related insurance broker, is looking for a highly motivated self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit to work in our Los Angeles, CA office (near LAX).

As an Account Manager, candidates will be the primary customer service contact for our existing clients. The Account Manager is responsible for mastering all lines of business to provide assistance with marketing submissions, giving shipment-specific insurance quotations, preparing proposals, mailing policy & support packets, answering policy questions, updating account changes, and more. Candidates will provide support to our sales staff and perform client training as part of that support, but they will also get the opportunity to cross-sell and further develop the client relationship. This role will expose you to our clients, the importing/exporting industry, and the various international and domestic insurance programs we manage.

We are looking for candidates with at least 2 years’ commercial insurance experience preferably in a logistics related industry such as an import/export company, freight forwarding, 3rd party logistics companies, or surety company etc. who are interested in growing a career focused on the logistics and trade industry. Preference will be given to candidates who hold a valid California Property and Casualty license. Successful candidates will be able to effectively manage client’s needs by using their excellent organizational and communication skills. This position will require a strong work ethic, close attention to detail, and flexibility. A working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs is a requirement.

IMPORT FACILITATOR
Los Angeles, CA TEMP Assignment of 2-3 months, maybe longer
Salary will Commensurate with Experience

JOB PURPOSE:
Facilitate the smooth completion of the import process from creating the Purchase Order through recording receipt of product to Cold Storage, Port, and Freight Transfers.

BASIC DUTIES:
Process Purchase Orders and Letters of Credits Schedule and Track Inbound Shipments Review and Process all import documents Record receipt of product, transfers and “samples”

QUALIFICATIONS:
2-3 years relative experience

REQUIRED SKILLS:
Intermediate Computer Skills: MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook 10 Key by Touch, at least 55 WPM in Typing Accurate Data Entry Skills
